Abbie Georgson
Kindergarten Teacher | K-8 Art Teacher
Education:
Bachelor of Science from Martin Luther College (2013) (Majoring in Elementary Education, Minoring in Social Studies Education)
Experience:
Kindergarten – Good Shepherd Lutheran, Sioux Falls, SD (2013-Present)
About Me:
I was born in Phoenix, AZ and spent a small part of my childhood near Portland, OR. The bulk of my life was spent in the beautiful Barre Mills, WI just outside of La Crosse. I had the privilege of receiving Christian education from little on. I had many fond experiences during my grade school years at Grace and Christ St. Johns. I attended Luther High School in Onalaska, WI and enjoyed an extremely full schedule getting involved in absolutely everything I could! During this time I began working with kids through rec department programs, an early childhood center, and nannying for several families. After high school I went on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm MN. While there I enjoyed working with animals at a veterinary clinic and participating in several drama productions.
After graduating from MLC in 2013, I received a one year call to Good Shepherd as the Kindergarten teacher. In the summer of 2014 I married my husband, Scott, and my call to Good Shepherd was made permanent. We now own a home near school and absolutely love the location! Decorating our first home has been a lot of fun. As a child I told my parents I wanted to be a dance teacher, artist, and a kid teacher. I am excited to say that all of my childhood career goals have been met at Good Shepherd. I love that I get to choreograph our drama productions at Good Shepherd as well as coach cheer team. It has been challenging, but so fun teaching art to Kindergarten-8th graders. The challenge is usually keeping supplies clean, stocked, and organized in a small space. I am so excited to say I am doing the job I have always wanted, a kid teacher! Kindergarten has been a wonderful growth experience for me as a person.
I am so thankful to work at GSL with a fun and caring faculty and staff. I love sharing my faith with students and families alike. Although I enjoy teaching social studies, art, music, and reading, nothing will compare to sharing God’s Words with so many young hearts and minds. Thank you for entrusting your children to our care. May God continue to be glorified through the work done on our campus.
Interests:
I really enjoy music. You can find me singing in school and church or singing while doing the dishes. This also includes dancing. The kindergarteners get to enjoy regular dance parties and workouts. (It keeps us young!) You might find me trying to do zumba, choreographing a cheer routine, or making up routines with kids at recess. I enjoy all sorts of art. Decorating my house and classrooms has definitely become a big hobby for me. I love food! Eating, cooking, decorating…it is all my favorite. I am thankful for a husband that is willing to try my many concoctions and sample food at the variety of great restaurants in town.

Grades 1-2 – Good Shepherd Lutheran, Sioux Falls, SD (2014-Present)
About Me:
I was born in Pierre, SD, but grew up in Menomonie, WI. I had the privilege of growing up and receiving all of my education being surrounded by God’s Word! I attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School for grades K-8. I graduated from high school in 1981 at Martin Luther Preparatory School (MLPS). I then attended DMLC and graduated with an elementary degree in 1985. My first call was to be a tutor or dormitory supervisor and coach at MLPS. In 1987, I was called by Good Shepherd to teach the middle grades (3rd through 5th grade). In 2014 I accepted the role of lower grades teacher (1st and 2nd grade).
My husband, Blair, and I have been blessed with two children and their wonderful spouses: Rachel and her husband Scott and Nick and his wife Dakotah.
It is truly a privilege to be a teacher at GSL. The faculty members that I am able to work with each day are truly a blessing. The dedication that everyone has to serve the Lord and teach His lambs makes it a very special place to work! God has truly blessed me here at Good Shepherd!
Interests:
I have a deep passion for music and reading. I also enjoy reading professional development books about Reading and Writing. I really enjoy following many different sports in person and online. Above all, I enjoy spending time with my family.

Education:
Bachelor of Science from Martin Luther College (Majoring in Elementary Education, Minoring in Physical Education)

Grades 3-5 – Good Shepherd Lutheran, Sioux Falls, SD (2012-Present)
About Me:
The child of two Called Workers, I have grown up moving around. While I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, I spent my years growing up in small town Brillion, Wisconsin. I spent my college years learning at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. My first year of teaching was at Lafayette Charter School in Lafayette, MN. Since 2012, I have been teaching at Good Shepherd Lutheran, a place I am proud to call home!
Currently, my family and I live in Northeast Sioux Falls. We recently purchased a home and have been discovering both the work and the joy that comes with owning a home. While I departmentalize some Math, I am the main teacher of grades 3-5 at Good Shepherd. I am also the Director of Athletics and our Junior Choir.
I continue to be blessed in my years at Good Shepherd! It is a privilege to work with a faculty that constantly shows genuine love and care for its students as well as mutual respect towards each other. Above all, I appreciate the opportunity that God gives me daily to share his saving message with his precious lambs.

Scott Georgson
6th, 7th, 8th grades | Technology Administrator
Education:
Bachelor of Science from Martin Luther College (2014) – Majoring in Elementary Education and Secondary Social Studies Education, Minoring in Spanish Education
Experience:
Grades 6-8 – Good Shepherd Lutheran, Sioux Falls, SD (2014-Present)
About Me:
I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and was blessed to receive Christian education throughout my whole life. My time at Luther Preparatory School led me to consider being a called servant, and I moved on to Martin Luther College. I was not decisive in my choices at MLC, and ended up double majoring in Elementary Education and Secondary Social Studies Education while also completing an endorsement minor in Spanish Education for K-8.
After completing my 5 years of required education and graduating I was called to serve at Good Shepherd. During the summer of 2014 I got married to my wife, Abbie, who had already begun teaching at Good Shepherd, moved to Sioux Falls, and began serving at Good Shepherd. Sioux Falls has been a wonderful city to live in, and the Good Shepherd congregation has been so welcoming that it has felt like family.
It’s a complete joy to serve at GSL where I can continually grow in my faith as a Christian and see the students grow in their faith as well. As the Technology Administrator and upper grades teacher I’m working to help Good Shepherd and our students successfully make use of technology as a tool in education. I love academic rigor in a fun environment for the students to work hard, set high aims for themselves and reach them, all the while having fun doing it. I also get to teach Spanish for all K-8 at GSL.
Interests:
I have a bit of an obsession with technology, but I also love sports like disc golf, soccer and tennis. Working to make GSL a better school for the families that attend is a hobby in and of itself, however I also enjoy board games, kickboxing, exploring Sioux Falls with our Rooted church group, spending time with my awesome wife, and tinkering with technology of all kinds.
