Our Pastors

Rev. Jonathan Werre

Worship & Outreach Pastor
jwerre@gswels.org

Pastor Werre was born on the mission fields of Zambia, Africa. He grew up, however, in the Midwest. In 1986, he graduated from Northwestern College (Watertown, WI) with a B.A. In 1990, he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Mequon, WI) with a Masters of Divinity. He also married Sarah Peter and to this very day he is convinced that was one of the best decisions of his life. They have four children.

Pastor Werre’s ministry has been flavored with mission and evangelism work. His first Call was to a mission congregation an hour north of the Twin Cities. In 1997, he was Called to do exploratory mission work in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. He served as chairman of the Minnesota District Evangelism Committee (before moving to Canada) and currently serves on our Dakota-Montana Mission Board.

Pastor Werre began serving at Good Shepherd in 2008. When he isn’t “doing pastor stuff,” you might find him splitting wood for the fireplace, drinking coffee with Sarah at one of our local coffeehouses, playing a little guitar, or watching movies with his family.

Rev. Michael Johnson

Pastor Johnson has been serving Good Shepherd since 2019. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2010. Pastor J. served for four years at Eternal Love in Appleton, WI. He serve another four years at Good Shepherd in Beloit, WI. Pastor Johnson loves getting to know people and worshiping the Lord with his friends.

Besides in the church, you may also find him chasing his three Energizer Bunny kids around, out in the garden, or huddled in front of a heater during the winter.

Pastor Johnson married his wife Sara in 2007 and together they have been blessed with three children – Hannah, Luke, and Benjamin
